B/R suggests Sixers trade Ben Simmons to Suns for Devin Booker

A new trade suggestion has the Philadelphia 76ers sending Ben Simmons to the Phoenix Suns for guard Devin Booker.

The Philadelphia 76ers have two stars who are the focal point of anything they do in Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid. However, there are some questions that the two of them can’t play together and the Sixers need to move one of them.

This notion seems a bit off as Philadelphia has won 65% of the games that the two of them have played in. It just comes down to what kind of talent and pieces the front office puts around them. They just need to get the shooting around them to be successful.

For entertaining purposes only, let’s take a look at a new trade suggestion from Bleacher Report. The deal is that the Sixers send Simmons to the Phoenix Suns for star guard Devin Booker in a straight-up deal.

B/R on the deal:

In the wake of Booker’s sterling age-23 season (26.6 points, 6.5 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game on a 48.9/35.4/91.9 shooting split), the Phoenix Suns would probably be more hesitant than the Sixers to make this move. Phoenix would have to be convinced Simmons has another level to his game, which isn’t all that far-fetched considering his undeniable skill and the ease with which everyone can identify the areas he must improve.

Booker might also reach new heights in Philly, where his improved playmaking would make his pick-and-roll work with Joel Embiid unstoppable.

The Simmons-Embiid duo does win basketball games. It has come up short in the playoffs in the past, but the fact remains that these guys are young. Simmons is 24 while Embiid is 26 and that gives the team enough time to develop their games and get them to where the team wants to go.

Booker is obviously an elite scorer in the league and he has improved as an all-around basketball player, but Simmons probably has the higher ceiling. If new coach Doc Rivers can unlock the jump shot that everybody is waiting for, then he can become a LeBron James type of player. [lawrence-related id=38169,38173,38166]
