Cade Mays is ‘a great asset’ for Tennessee’s football team.

KNOXVILLE — Tennessee improved to 2-0 on the season Saturday following a 35-12 victory over Missouri.

Junior offensive lineman Cade Mays transferred to Tennessee from Georgia during the offseason.

Mays was granted immediate eligibility ahead of playing Missouri by the SEC. He missed the Vols’ season-opener at South Carolina in Week 1 before he was cleared.

Tennessee offensive lineman Cade Mays (68) runs on the field during the first quarter during a game between Tennessee and Missouri at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn. on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020.

Following Tennessee’s win against Missouri, redshirt senior quarterback Jarrett Guarantano discussed Mays being an important part of the Vols’ offensive line.

Guarantano said it is “huge” to have him playing.

“Cade’s a great asset to this football team, and I feel that we have eight or nine deep that are very good football players at the offensive line, so they can really be plugged anywhere,” Guarantano said. “Cade definitely is a great player and I’m very excited that he’s a part of this group.”
