The Philadelphia 76ers did not come anywhere near their expectations in the 2019-20 season as they were hoping to compete for a championship. They were led by Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid and they were hoping to build off the success they had in 2019.
However, they made a few questionable roster moves that held the team back a bit on offense.
They let sharpshooter JJ Redick walk away in free agency and sign with the New Orleans Pelicans and with him leaving, the Sixers did not have the proper spacing on offense. Philadelphia struggled to make the offense run smoothly as the Al Horford and Josh Richardson additions had a tough time finding their role.
Redick joined Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes on “All The Smoke” and he got into Philadelphia and their struggles a bit.
Redick said:
They [expletive] up not bringing me back, man. They [expletive] up not bringing me back. I would just say, they probably realized they needed more shooting. The thing with me in Philly, though, it wasn’t just about the shooting. You need people in the locker room. You just need those guys.
Redick had some career years with the Sixers averaging 17.6 points and shooting 40.7% from deep in his two seasons with the team. The Sixers badly missed the floor spacing needed Simmons and Embiid. [lawrence-related id=38074,38075,38046]
