The New Orleans Pelicans and Ty Lue have reportedly completed their head coaching interview in Las Vegas on Friday. The two sides were reportedly set to meet in California on Friday based on reports earlier in the week. Though the location reportedly changed, the meeting still took place, according to Los Angeles Times reporter Brad Turner.
Lue will now take part in interviews with the Clippers and Rockets over the weekend before ultimately making a decision. Lue is currently the only known candidate the Pelicans have interviewed for their head coaching vacancy. The franchise did also make contact with Doc Rivers prior to him joining the 76ers.
Lue is a title-winning coach, spending four seasons and 211 games in charge of the Cavaliers. In that span, he went 128-83 in the regular season and 41-20 in the playoffs with three consecutive trips to the NBA Finals. During his time as coach, current Pelicans executive vice president of basketball operations David Griffin served as general manager.
