The Philadelphia 76ers entered the 2006 NBA Draft after a very disheartening 2005-06 season. The first full season of the Allen Iverson and Chris Webber duo did not turn out the way the team expected and they were back in the lottery following a playoff appearance in 2005.
They selected a good defender in the form of Thabo Sefolosha with the 13th pick, but the team then flipped him to the Chicago Bulls for the 16th pick which turned out to be Rodney Carney of Memphis.
Carney had a good career with Memphis averaging 14.3 points throughout his four seasons there and he finished up his senior season averaging 17.2 points and 4.3 rebounds while shooting 39.1% from deep. The hope was that he would provide some good play next to Iverson and Webber, but the team then traded Iverson and waived Webber so that was that.
He did average 6.6 points and 1.9 rebounds while shooting 34.7% from deep as a rookie.
He was then traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2008 before going back to Philadelphia in 2009 and then finishing up with the Golden State Warriors and the Memphis Grizzlies in 2011. He tried to make the rosters of the Miami Heat and New Orleans Pelicans later on, but he could not impress them. [lawrence-related id=38065,38046,38061]
