Floyd Mayweather has said that he would fight Conor McGregor again or Khabib Nurmagomedov … if the money is right.
“If I could pick an easy $300 million, absolutely. Same way, same results,” Mayweather said on Shannon Sharp’s podcast, “Club Shay Shay.”
Mayweather, 43, clearly isn’t interested in fight a young contender at this point of his life. He wants to protect his heath. He obviously doesn’t see a “fight” against McGregor or a Nurmagomedov as a significant risk.
“Your health is your wealth,” Mayweather said. “So as far as me going out there and competing against a guy like Conor McGregor or a guy that’s really inexperienced … absolutely. Those are $300 million fights. …
“You have to make it make sense, real sense. Certain type of dollars. I need to have my faculties also. I had my time, I had my era. It’s these young fighters’ era now. It’s OK for me to go fight a Khabib or a Conor.
“With those two fights alone, I could pick up $600 million. That don’t hurt to fight guys that just entertain. It’s all entertainment.”
Mayweather knocked out McGregor in a fight that was a tremendous success businesswise. “Money” retired after that bout.
McGregor announced his retirement in June but tweeted that he expects to fight Manny Pacquiao in the Middle East. The UFC also has offered him a fight with fellow mixed martial artist star Dustin Poirer.
