To fans and critics of the Philadelphia Eagles, the team is struggling to find an offensive identity, but head coach Doug Pederson disagrees. During his Friday zoom meeting, Pederson had an interesting response when asked about the Eagles identity on offense.
“Number one, you’ve got to go off the strength of your quarterback and then you build your plans around that,” Pederson said. “Obviously, the identity, you want to run the football, play-action pass, QB movements and then the screens, you’ve got to mix in the screens effectively in your system. You want to be physical upfront — that goes without saying — you want to be dominant there, control the line of scrimmage — all of that — and that’s where the run game comes in.”
Pederson said the Eagles offense hasn’t been able to establish its true identity because of the offensive failures on first down through the first three weeks. Pederson said the Eagles have shown signs of having a true offensive identity, but third struggles have been detrimental to finding a rhythm.
