You’ll be hard pressed to find someone outside of the Chicago Bears with more respect for quarterback Nick Foles than Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich.
Reich served as the Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator during the team’s Super Bowl run, orchestrated by Foles’ impressive playoff performance. The pair formed a lifelong friendship in the process, and the two will meet again Sunday when Foles and the Bears face Reich and the Colts.
Reich has been singing Foles’ praises all week heading into this Week 4 match-up, where the Bears are looking to remain undefeated. He called Foles “about as unflappable a person as I’ve ever been around,” raving about his ability in clutch situations, as evidenced by last Sunday’s impressive fourth-quarter comeback against the Atlanta Falcons.
Speaking with reporters on Wednesday, Reich praised Foles’ poise and ability throwing from the pocket.
“He’s a great point guard,” Reich said. “He’s a magician with the ball. He can throw and deliver the ball from every angle.”

Bears fans got a glimpse of that last Sunday in Atlanta, where Foles tossed three touchdowns in seven minutes to lead his team to a 30-26 victory — coming off the bench.
Chicago traded for Foles earlier this offseason to challenge Mitchell Trubisky for the starting quarterback job. While Trubisky won the job, with the benefit of a shortened offseason and no preseason, Foles got his chance when Matt Nagy benched Trubisky midway through the third quarter. And he took off running.
The Bears offense came to life when Foles entered the game, as he demonstrated poise and understanding as he effectively ran Nagy’s offense. With Foles being named the starter moving forward, we’ll get a good glimpse at how Nagy’s offense is supposed to look.
