Doc Rivers watching Game 1 of NBA Finals with Sixers, job offer to come

Doc Rivers is watching the 2020 NBA Finals with the Philadelphia 76ers brass and he is expected to receive an offer.

The Philadelphia 76ers have had a coaching search going since firing Brett Brown on August 24 following seven seasons on the job. The two names that were expected to be finalists for the job have been Tyronn Lue and Mike D’Antoni, but now it appears that it will come down to a new candidate.

Ever since Doc Rivers parted ways with the Los Angeles Clippers, the Sixers have expressed a lot of interest in him. They immediately reached out to him after the news came out and they brought him into town on Wednesday to interview him in person.

Now, it appears that he has not left the city and he is, in fact, watching Game 1 of the 2020 NBA Finals with the brass of the organization. According to Jason Dumas of KRON4NEWS, Rivers is even expected to get a job offer after the game is over.

Rivers has a 943-681 career coaching record with the Orlando Magic, Boston Celtics, and the Clippers. He led Boston to a championship in 2008 over the Los Angeles Lakers and he got them back in the Finals in 2010. [lawrence-related id=38016,38008,38003]
