Baylor at West Virginia: Three things to know
- It took a while for Baylor to get into action, as their first two games were wiped out by COVID issues with their opponents. They finally made their debut under new head coach Dave Aranda, rolling up a 47-14 opening-game win over Kansas in Waco, Texas last week.
- The Bears rushed for 203 yards against the Jayhawks while allowing just 328 total yards, including only 159 through the air.
- Baylor scratched out a 17-14 win over West Virginia at home last season on Oct. 31, 2019, and they didn’t come close to covering an 18-point number while the under comfortably hit.

Baylor at West Virginia: Odds, betting lines and picks
Prediction
Baylor 27, West Virginia 23
Money line (ML)
BAYLOR (-152) is a solid play on the road against West Virginia (+125) on the money line. They have been a strong road team in recent seasons under head coach Matt Rhule, and there is no reason to believe they’ll be different under Aranda.
Against the spread (ATS)
BAYLOR -3 (-110) is worth a small-unit play, although I expect this one to be a little too close for comfort, so the money line is a better option. To make you feel better about betting against the spread, dating back to last season, the Bears are 6-0 ATS in the past six Big 12 contests, they’re 9-2 ATS in the past 11 against winning teams and 5-1 ATS in the previous six on the road. On the flip side, West Virginia is 1-3-1 ATS in the past five at home and 0-3-1 ATS in the past four as a home ‘dog.
Over/Under (O/U)
UNDER 53.5 (-110) is worth a roll of the dice in this battle in Morgantown. The Under is 4-1-1 in the past six for Baylor, including a push on the total last weekend. The Under has connected in six straight Big 12 contests for the Mountaineers, including last week’s 27-13 road loss at Oklahoma State. WVU opened with an Over on the total at home, Sept. 12, but that can be discounted since their foe was FCS Eastern Kentucky. The Under is 6-0 in the past six for West Virginia against FBS opponents.
