Projected first-round pick R.J. Hampton said on Tuesday in a conference call that he has interviewed with eight teams ahead of the 2020 NBA Draft on Nov. 18.
Hampton is projected to be a mid-first-round pick in the NBA Draft and could potentially fall to several teams in that range. He has met virtually with the Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks, Washington Wizards, Detroit Pistons, Phoenix Suns, Sacramento Kings, Portland Trail Blazers and Oklahoma City Thunder.
Of the teams that have met with Hampton, some are likely selecting too high to choose him since he is projected to go later in the first round. However, teams will often speak with as many prospects as possible in order to do their homework on a player in case they have the opportunity to cross paths with them in the future.

Hampton is among the prospects participating in the 2020 NBA Draft Combine, which will be conducted both in team markets and virtually. The event will take place in phases through November to allow teams the opportunity to evaluate prospects during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hampton has been training with two-time champion Mike Miller ahead of the draft. Miller believes Hampton can become a multi-time All-Star in the league with an improved shot and Hampton recently said he believes he can be a franchise-changing player.
Hampton has the physical tools and athleticism to thrive at the next level but will need to develop a consistent shot but it appears as though he is working to improve that weakness. Hampton was once viewed as a top-five pick so it will be interesting to see how he develops at the next level.
