The Indianapolis Colts are reportedly bringing in veteran safety Tony Jefferson for a visit, per Josina Anderson of ESPN.
With Malik Hooker on the injured reserve list and out for the season with a torn Achilles, the Colts are likely bringing in Jefferson to see if he’s a potential depth addition to the safety position.
Even though there seems to be solid depth in George Odum and Tavon Wilson, the Colts want five safeties on the active roster, especially as they continue to ease rookie Julian Blackmon back from his torn ACL.
Jefferson himself is coming off of a torn ACL that ended his season with the Baltimore Ravens after just five games in 2019. It isn’t clear if the 28-year-old will be immediately ready to play so the Colts may just be doing some housekeeping for when he is available to contribute.
Whether it’s just a visit to see what he can do or actual interest from the Colts, this will be something to monitor.
