It has become a weekly tradition in the college football world. After another week of college ball being played, we look at the College Football Playoffs and bowl projections from ESPN. Following the Longhorns 63-56 overtime win and the Oklahoma Sooners 38-35 loss, it looks quite different than it did at this time last week. In fact this week no one has either Texas or Oklahoma in the their playoff predictions.
Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach laid out their predictions. They have the same four teams and the same CFP National Championship game, just different venues for the matchups.
All State Sugar Bowl | Clemson vs Florida (Bonagura) |
All State Sugar Bowl | Alabama vs Ohio State (Schlabach) |
Rose Bowl | Alabama vs Ohio State (Bonagura) |
Rose Bowl | Clemson vs Florida (Schlabach) |
CFB National Championship | Clemson vs Alabama |
With no Big 12 team representing the conference in the playoffs, where does that leave the rest of the Big 12? Well for Texas and Oklahoma, that likely means a New Years Six bowl game.
Goodyear Cotton Bowl | Texas vs Penn State (Schlabach) |
Playstation Fiesta Bowl | Texas vs Georgia (Bonagura) |
Capital One Orange Bowl | Notre Dame vs Oklahoma (Bonagura) |
Playstation Fiesta Bowl | Oklahoma vs Central Florida (Schlabach) |
Despite how the media is viewing the Big 12 Conference at this point, these two still have both Texas and Oklahoma representing them in the New Years Six games. Not exactly where either team wants to finish the year but it is only week four and a lot can happen between now and December.
