The Philadelphia 76ers have been out of the playoffs now for about a month, but fans can still keep their eyes on a few of the former members of the team. While there are two big named former Sixers on the Miami Heat, there is one name on the Denver Nuggets who is performing well under the radar.
Jerami Grant was supposed to be a part of the team’s process era moving forward, but he was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder two games into the 2016-17 season for Ersan Ilyasova. He then developed into a solid 3-and-D player for the Thunder before being traded to Denver.
So far in the 2020 playoffs, Grant has been a huge piece of the Nuggets run to the Western Conference Finals. While Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic have deservedly got a lot of attention, Grant has been playing an important role for them.
After scoring a career playoff-high 26 points in Denver’s Game 3 win over the Los Angeles Lakers, Grant followed that up with 17 points and he knocked down two triples in a 114-108 loss in Game 4. He did all of that while taking on the unenviable task of having to guard Anthony Davis and LeBron James on the other end.
Denver may be down 3-1 to Los Angeles, but they have proven in the past that it isn’t a problem. They have rallied from 3-1 deficits in both Round 1 and Round 2 against the Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Clippers, respectively. [lawrence-related id=37855,37903,37904]
