The Panthers lost their best player to a high ankle sprain this week. They’re also hurting in the trenches, with several starters either not participating or being limited at practice on Wednesday.
Here’s how the team’s Week 3 injury report is shaping up.
Player | Injury | Wed | Thu | Fri | Status |
DT Kawann Short | Foot | DNP
OL Dennis Daley | Ankle | DNP
G John Miller | Ankle/Groin | Limited
DE Yetur Gross-Matos | Concussion | Limited
DE Brian Burns | Thigh | Limited |
The most concerning name here belongs to Burns, who is the only defensive lineman who’s played well this season. His injury doesn’t sound serious, though. Apparently, Burns had to sit out a few plays after getting kicked and coach Matt Rhule thinks he will be fine.
In related news, Carolina’s All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey has been placed on the injured reserve list. He will be eligible to return in just three weeks under the new rules.
