Sean Payton and Jon Gruden have joined Kyle Shanahan, Pete Carroll, and Vic Fangio in the $100,000 fine club for not adhering to NFL rules regarding face coverings during the coronavirus pandemic, per USA TODAY.
The New Orleans Saints’ coach and Las Vegas Raiders’ coach were both seen on the sidelines Monday night numerous times with their faces uncovered.
Following what the league did to the Niners’, Seahawks’ and Broncos’ coaches after their lapses Sunday, were each fined $100,000 too and their teams were each hit with $250,000 fines.
The coaches for the Las Vegas Raiders and New Orleans Saints were each fined $100,000 by the NFL for violating the league’s jointly established protocol in light of the coronavirus pandemic, a person familiar with the decision told USA TODAY Sports. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to disclose details of the punishment.
The Raiders and Saints also were docked $250,000, the person said.
One would have hoped Payton would know better and have been more careful. He suffered through a case of COVID-19, being diagnosed in March after spending time at Oaklawn Racetrack in Arkansas.
