The Philadelphia 76ers had just finished up the first season of The Process when they entered the 2014 NBA Draft. The team had traded away veterans such as Evan Turner and Spencer Hawes and were in a full blown youth movement.

So when they landed the number 3 pick in the draft, they could not waste it. Talented big man Joel Embiid from Kansas fell to the Sixers and they could not pass him up and they took advantage of their good fortune.

Despite missing the first two full seasons of his career with foot injuries, the Sixers still had faith that he was the guy who was going to lead the future. When he finally made his debut in 2016, he did not disappoint as he averaged 20.2 points and 7.8 rebounds as a rookie and he was in the running for Rookie of the Year despite playing only 31 games.

Embiid has since followed that up with three All-Star appearances and he been named to the All-NBA Team twice as well as two All-Defensive Team appearances. He has become one of the top players in the game regardless of position and he has teamed up with Ben Simmons to help turn the Sixers into a very good team. He has become the most important draft pick of The Process era as he has been the one to turn things around for this organization and gave people hope.[lawrence-related id=37804,37797,37794]
