Report: Colts’ Parris Campbell may have avoided torn ACL

Initial reports are that Parris Campbell avoided a torn ACL.

There was a scary moment during the Indianapolis Colts’ 28-11 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday as wide receiver Parris Campbell had to be carted off due to a knee injury.

With how the injury happened—a low hit from Harrison Smith on Campbell’s planted knee—the worst immediately came to mind. A torn ACL wouldn’t be a surprise diagnosis, but it appears the second-year wideout avoided that injury.

Though this should be taken for granted as it isn’t officially announced by the team, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reported that Campbell didn’t suffer a torn ACL and will be getting an MRI on Monday to get the full diagnosis.

This is great news. Campbell’s injury looked very severe, especially given the way he was grabbing his knee and the fact that he got carted off.

Even though the Colts handled the Vikings on Sunday, it was apparent that the offense isn’t as explosive with Campbell out of the lineup. He’s likely to miss some time but if he avoided a major injury like a torn ACL, that’s good news all things considered.

We will likely know more on Monday after the MRI results come back in, but there is potentially some optimistic news regarding Campbell’s knee injury.
