Final score predictions for Washington vs. Arizona in Week 2

Washington will have a chance to make things interesting vs. Arizona on Sunday, but in the end, it seems like the Cardinals will pull away.

Sometimes you’re faced with making a prediction based on either your head or your heart. When posed with the question of who I think will come out on top when Arizona and Washington square off this afternoon, it’s tough to decide which one I want to listen to.

A week ago, my head said that Washington would have a tough matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, and it proved correct for the first 30 minutes of game time. Then the new heart of the team, Dwayne Haskins, stepped up at halftime and sparked a comeback that left us all bewildered. Now my heart is asking why that can’t happen again.

The matchup this week against the Cardinals is not exorbitantly tough. The defense will have a big task on their shoulders in stopping Kyler Murray and trying to limit the wide receiver production, but to say that the overall outlook for Washington today is much different than it was a week ago is off-target.

The Eagles are a good team with a  great QB and solid defense. The Cardinals are a solid young team with a dynamic QB and a litany of offensive weapons. We saw that Washington was able to disrupt the offense enough to render Carson Wentz basically ineffective for the second half, so what will happen when they get in front of Murray?

To be honest, I have to go with my head here, though I might regret that later. For the second week in a row, Washington will enter the game as a sizeable underdog, but this time they won’t have the benefit of an opponent who is already looking ahead to the next week. I unfortunately think that Kyler Murray is going to prove a bit too much to handle, and the offense is going to be able to tear up Washington’s secondary, leading to DeAndre Hopkins having yet another big day.

In the end, I don’t think Arizona will completely run away with it, but I see them winning comfortably.

Final Score: Arizona 28, Washington 17
