Former LSU quarterback Joe Burrow doesn’t lose often.
Take the Tigers’ undefeated season capped off by a national championship victory over a dominant Clemson team as evidence.
So, it’s not easy going for him as the leader of a Cincinnati Bengals team that’s opened the 2020 season with a pair of losses.
The misfortune is something Burrow is itching to get back to the field to fix.

“This might be the only time in my sporting career that I have lost two games in a row,” he told reporters after the game. “It doesn’t feel very good. I know that the guys in there are hurting. We are going to come back to work tomorrow and try to get this thing right. Losing is unacceptable to me, to everyone in there, to coach [Zac] Taylor and to everybody in this organization. We are just going to have to get it fixed.”
Burrow’s individual performance has been impressive for a rookie who went through an offseason surrounded by unprecedented circumstances, assuming a leadership position at a high level with a team that entered the season with a lot of fixing to do.
“I will never adjust or accept losing,” he said. “That is just something that is not in my mindset so this 0-2 start is really hurting me.”
Regardless of how improved the Bengals look in some aspects, Burrow sees the facts of the situation for what they are.
“We are 0-2,” Burrow said. “That is all that matters.”
Burrow and his Bengals will have a chance to get their first win on Sunday, Sept. 27 when they face the Philadelphia Eagles on the road at noon CST.
