New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is mourning the death of his mother, Jeannette, who died on Tuesday at the age of 98. And she will certainly be on his mind when the Patriots face the Seahawks on Sunday.
Belichick grew up as an only child, and Jeannette played a huge part in his life while his father, Steve, was often gone on football scouting trips.
So, the loss of his mother understandably hit the Patriots head coach hard.
With people reaching out across the sports community to offer their condolences to Belichick, the Patriots head coach chose Thursday’s press conference as an opportunity to reflect on his mother’s memory.
He spoke at length about his mother and thanked those who offered their condolences. It was a side of Belichick that we don’t often see.
A bond rooted in football, and above all else, family.
