The Denver Broncos have placed superstar outside linebacker Von Miller (ankle) on injured reserve, according to multiple media reports.
To fill Miller’s spot on the 53-man roster, the Broncos signed outside linebacker Isaiah Irving, who played under coach Vic Fangio while with the Chicago Bears. Irving’s signing was first reported by KOA Radio’s Benjamin Allbright.
There’s a possibility that Miller might not be able to play at all this year but in the best-case scenario, he might be able to return to the team after three months. Miller had surgery in Denver on Sept. 11.
Miller (6-3, 250 pounds) was selected by the Broncos with the second overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft after he totaled 115 tackles and 17.5 sacks in his final two seasons at Texas A&M. Miller quickly emerged as one of Denver’s top defenders and was named the AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2011.
Since then, Miller has earned eight Pro Bowl selections, three first-team All-Pro nods and four second-team All-Pro nods. He was named to the NFL’s 2010s All-Decade Team this year after becoming the Broncos’ all-time leader in sacks (106).
Miller was named the MVP of Super Bowl 50 in 2016 after leading Denver to a 24-10 victory over the Carolina Panthers. Miller’s MVP performance included six tackles, 2.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.
Including the postseason, Miller has totaled 520 tackles, 112.5 sacks, three interceptions and 27 forced fumbles in his nine-year career.
