Bad news on the injury front for the Lions. Detroit is placing starting slot cornerback Justin Coleman on injured reserve.
Coleman left the Week 1 loss to the Chicago Bears with a hamstring injury after just 19 snaps. He will now miss at least the next three weeks. Coleman’s season is not over, provided he can recover from the hamstring issue. His injury is not expected to be a long-term problem.
The I.R. rules are significantly different in 2020 than past years. Teams can place players on injured reserve for just three weeks, and an unlimited number of players can be recalled.
The Lions worked out several cornerbacks on Monday. Now that there is an opening on the roster, expect the team to at least add another CB to the practice squad in advance of the Week 2 matchup with the Green Bay Packers.
