The number of COVID-19 cases for Texas Tech is mind boggling

The upcoming opponent for the Texas Longhorns have had their fair share of issues when dealing with the Coronavirus. According to Nicole Auerbach of the Athletic, they have dealt with 75 total cases of COVID-19. Fortunately, the Longhorns have done a great job of minimizing the outbreak among their football team with no cases since on-boarding. Texas will travel to Lubbock on Sept. 26 to open Big 12 play against the Red Raiders.

Big 12 Conference names weekly awards

Krishon Merriweather (Texas Tech), Spencer Rattler and Stephen Johnson (Oklahoma) join Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger in Big 12 weekly honors. Merriweather recorded 12 tackles in his debut with Texas Tech, he led all conference defenders in tackles.

Spencer Rattler put up video game numbers with 14/17 passing with 290 yards and four touchdowns. His debut as a starter was worth the price of admission. Stephen Johnson was named special team player of the week. He replaced sophomore kicker Gabe Brkic, who sat out the game against Missouri State.

Oklahoma State’s COVID-19 cases sit at zero as kickoff approaches

The Oklahoma State Cowboys will finally kick off their season on Saturday. Kirk Bohls of the Austin American-Statesman reports that the Cowboys are COVID-19 free as that game approaches.
