Chiefs Super Bowl LV odds increase after Week 1 win

A slight increase in the Super Bowl odds for the Kansas City Chiefs after a Week 1 victory.

The Kansas City Chiefs opened up Week 1 with a dominant win over the Houston Texans. Now, oddsmakers think that it’s even more likely for this team to repeat as Super Bowl champions.

The reigning champions already opened the season as the odds on favorite to win the Super Bowl, with +650 odds in favor of the Chiefs winning Super Bowl LV. BetMGM has since updated those odds, with Kansas City now listed with +550 odds to win Super Bowl LV. That comes out to 5.5/1 fractional odds. It’s just a slight increase, but it’s certainly noteworthy after the Week 1 victory over the Texans. This time last year they had 7/1 odds to win Super Bowl LIV and look how that turned out for them.

If you’re new to the world of sports betting, at 5.5/1 odds the Chiefs have an implied 15.4% probability of winning the Super Bowl this year. If you were to bet $100 on them at the current odds and they win, you’d win $550.

Kansas City isn’t alone at the top of the Super Bowl LV odds, though. The winners of the AFC North in 2019, the Baltimore Ravens, are tied with the Chiefs at 5.5/1 odds. Baltimore also won their Week 1 matchup handily and have the reigning league MVP in QB Lamar Jackson leading the team. Following the Ravens are the New Orleans Saints and San Francisco 49ers, who both have 11/1 odds.

It’s undoubtedly early and things can change quickly in the NFL, but so far so good for Kansas City as they attempt to run it back and win back-to-back Super Bowl titles
