It sure didn’t take long for the college football season to produce an incredible upset, and the Thunder’s Chris Paul saw it coming.
Paul appeared on ESPN’s College GameDay on Saturday morning as the show originated from his Wake Forest University, his alma mater.
While on the show, Paul was asked to make picks for the day’s games, and among them was him picking the Ragin’ Cajuns to beat the Iowa State Cyclones.
The pick raised some eyebrows considering the fact that Iowa State began the season as the No. 23 ranked team in the nation, but Paul favored the Ragin’ Cajuns, even if for an interesting reason.
“Louisiana,” he said when asked to predict the game’s winner.
“I lived in New Orleans, actually did training camp in 2010 down in Louisiana, so go Ragin’ Cajuns,” he said while host Rece Davis chuckled at his reasoning for making the pick.
In the end, CP3 got the last laugh.

Behind a two-touchdown effort from special teams, Louisiana-Lafayette recorded a 31-14 win to shock Iowa State. For the Cajuns, it was the program’s first win over a top 25 ranked opponent since 1996.
According to USA TODAY’s Paul Meyeberg, the club is likely headed for its own top 25 ranking after Saturday’s major upset.
The Ragin’ Cajuns are headed for the Top 25 after Saturday’s 31-14 win at Iowa State, though they probably should’ve been there already. But a spot in the Amway Coaches Poll is a major milestone for the program and the latest sign that third-year coach Billy Napier is destined to land on the short list for several Power Five openings, should schools decide to make a coaching change amid this environment.
In all fairness, Paul didn’t correctly pick all games on Saturday, but it might not hurt for him to share his predictions for the NBA Finals. Russell Westbrook saw his season end on Saturday night when the Rockets lost their second-round playoff series to the Lakers, 4-1.
It might be worth reviewing the tape to see whether Paul pick with or against his former club.
