Report: Golden State Warriors ‘aren’t as big of fans’ of LaMelo Ball, could trade back

The reports continue to come out from Golden State indicating that team is not high on LaMelo Ball as a prospect in the 2020 NBA Draft.

As much as one team can through various sourced reports, the Golden State Warriors have made their thoughts on LaMelo Ball known ahead of the 2020 NBA Draft. While their public comments remain business-like, nearly every report from the franchise has indicated the team isn’t high on Ball.

That includes the latest report on Friday from San Francisco Chronicle writer Connor Letourneau, who was asked which team was the most obvious partner to trade down in the draft with and had the following to say:

“Per my sources, the Warriors aren’t nearly as big of fans of (LaMelo) Ball as other teams in the lottery, and I could definitely see them trading back in the lottery with a team that wants Ball.”

Letourneau also notes the Knicks as the most obvious trade candidate given their complete opposite view of Ball as a prospect. If the Warriors are simply interested in acquiring the highest amount of assets, the Knicks have a host of draft picks that include first-rounders from the Clippers and Mavericks. While neither figure to be in the lottery, it would provide the team more ammunition for trades later on.

This isn’t the first report from Letourneau on how the team views Ball. He has noted previously that the team prefers Edwards over Ball and even prefer Tyrese Haliburton over Ball. It seems increasingly unlikely that Ball will become the newest Splash Bro with the Warriors.
