Seeing a mixed martial arts fight end with a low blow is not unusual.
A fight ending with a competitor taking a horrific spinning back kick to the groin, immediately followed by a second one just as bad as soon as the fight restarts? That’s nearly unheard of, but unfortunately for [autotag]Peter Stanonik[/autotag], that’s what happened in the main-card opener of Bellator 245 on Friday night.
Stanonik (5-4 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) was on the receiving end of two of the worst unintentional fouls you’ll see, delivered by kickboxing [autotag]Raymond Daniels[/autotag] in their lightweight bout in Uncasville, Conn. The second one led to the fight being declared a no-contest at 1:00 of the second round.

Daniels (2-1 MMA, 2-0 BMMA) had spent the opening round delivering all manner of flashy kicks, but they either landed legally, or missed. That wasn’t the case in the second. He threw what appeared to be a picture-perfect spinning back kick aimed at the midsection, but it landed flush on Stanonik’s groin. Stanonik instantly dropped to the mat, spit out his mouthpiece, and could be seen drooling.
Stanonik needed the entire allotted five minutes of timeout before resuming. From there, it only took seconds for Daniels to land a front kick straight to the groin. With no fans in attendance to make noise, Stanonik’s groans of agony were audible on the broadcast. The bout was almost instantaneously waved off.

As it turns out, this was the second no-contest due to an illegal strike on the evening. On the undercard, veteran Jack May took a knee to the groin in the first round of his fight with Tyrell Fortune, and couldn’t continue after a five-minute timeout.
