Among the characteristics Steve Nash used to describe Kevin Durant on Wednesday, based on their time working together in the past, was coachable. Seems unique for a superstar athlete.
But then again, Durant isn’t like every superstar athlete.
“I’m excited. Anytime a former player gets a job as a coach in the league I’m excited ’cause their level of knowledge for the game runs deep, especially [after] experiencing them on the floor,” Durant said on JJ Redick’s podcast, The Old Man and the Three. “His insight for the game, his communication — how he communicates [.about] the game of basketball is definitely going to help me as a player develop and it’s going to help the rest of our team, and our relationship started from him player, me admiring him as a player.”

Then playing against and competing against him, and finally getting a chance to workout with Steve, probably wanna say seven or eight years ago. Understood how his mind works for the game and every time I’m in the gym with him I always was like a sponge. So, I’m looking forward to this man. I always feel like I’m a student of the game and somebody who’s experienced so much and played in different eras, I’m looking forward to him teaching me more things about it, as well.
