Sixers assistant coach Ime Udoka among candidates for Pacers vacancy

Philadelphia 76ers assistant coach Ime Udoka is among the names for the head job with the Indiana Pacers.

Philadelphia 76ers assistant coach Ime Udoka continues to be a big name to watch for the current coaching vacancies around the league. He has been a name to watch for both the current opening with the Sixers as well as the ongoing coaching search for the Chicago Bulls.

Now, he is on another team’s radar for their coaching vacancy as the Indiana Pacers begin coming up with a list of candidates.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Udoka is expected to gain some interest for the Pacers’ job as well as a lot of other names:

The Pacers are embarking on a wide-ranging search that has included seeking permission to speak to several assistant coaches in the league, including the Spurs’ Hammon and Will Hardy, Miami’s Dan Craig and Chris Quinn, Dallas’ Jamahl Mosley and Stephen Silas, Milwaukee’s Darvin Ham and Charles Lee, Orlando’s Pat Delany, Minnesota’s David Vanterpool, Philadelphia’s Ime Udoka, Brooklyn’s Jacque Vaughn and Portland’s Nate Tibbetts.

Udoka was an assistant with the San Antonio Spurs for seven seasons before heading to Philadelphia and was an assistant under Brett Brown. He was in charge of the team’s defense this season and he did enough to help Ben Simmons earn a spot on the All-Defensive First Team in 2020. [lawrence-related id=37538,37528,37525]
