Report: Vikings claim LB Ryan Connelly off waivers

The Vikings claimed linebacker Ryan Connelly, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

The Vikings announced their 53-man roster on Saturday and linebacker was among the groups that were a little thin.

The team had five linebackers on the depth chart. That’s not a huge deal for the Vikings because they like to use the nickel package quite often. However, it helps to have some extra depth there.

On Sunday, the Vikings reportedly added some extra depth. The Vikings claimed linebacker Ryan Connelly, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Connelly played high school football for Eden Prairie. He then walked on at Wisconsin, only to work his way up to being a regular starter for the Badgers.

The Giants took Connelly in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Multiple outlets listed the linebacker as a surprising cut the Giants made.

Maybe he can come back to his home state and work his way up the depth chart, jut like he did in college.
