On Saturday night, ESPN’s Dianna Russini reported that the Tennessee Titans are expected to sign free-agent pass-rusher Jadeveon Clowney, a player the team has been pursuing for close to six months now.
It was a long, winding road to get here, but the Titans finally appear to have their man. Now, the Titans will go from having a suspect pass-rush to a formidable one with Clowney, Harold Landry and Vic Beasley all in the mix.
As you can imagine, the hype from Titans players was through the roof, and the move garnered quite the reaction from the rest of the football world.
Take a look.

Titans defense is now arguably Top 5 on paper:
DI – Jones / Simmons
ED – Clowney / Landry / Beasley
LB – Brown / Evans / Compton
CB – Jackson / Butler / Fulton / Joseph
S – Byard / Vaccaro / Hooker— Mike Clay (@MikeClayNFL) September 5, 2020
Welcome to Nashville @clownejd. See you soon bro 🤙🏻🤙🏻

.@Titans are trying to stay close to the @Chiefs and the @Ravens getting another pass rusher is a great way to do that. Last year wasn’t a fluke and this signing bolsters a strong returning nucleus and I expect them back in the AFC Championship game. https://t.co/lT0ByDmIdW

Pretty good edge group for #Titans.
Harold Landry III
Jadeveon Clowney
Vic Beasley
Kamalei Correa
Derick RobersonLandry, Clowney, Beasley and Jeffery Simmons on passing downs should be fun.

Jadeveon Clowney is the most explosive edge rusher that the Titans have had since Jevon Kearse. It's incredible how much his burst stands out on film..

Jadeveon Clowney has had a 75+ overall grade every year with the exception of his rookie season. His highest two grades came in the last two years.

Over the last 2 seasons, Jadeveon Clowney has the 2nd-highest pass rush win rate in the NFL (beating his blocks in 2.5 seconds 26.5%), according to ESPN's pass rush metrics powered by NFL Next Gen stats. #Titans

Don’t even know why the Saints even wanted Jadeveon Clowney.. The dude overrated, he full of drama, and he was only good cause of JJ Watt in Houston and I didn’t see where he did much in Seattle! So Titans y’all have a good team but I hope y’all didn’t give Henry money to him.

The Titans are a better team with Jadeveon Clowney BUT 1) what position are they going to play him? 2) can he stay healthy? 3) Is he going to produce SACKS and 4) how do they manage the cap if it goes down next year and need to re-sign players like Brown and J. Smith?

The Titans will have to get Clowney in as soon as COVID-19 protocols will allow them to in order to get him ready for the Week 1 matchup against the Denver Broncos on September 14.
According to Josina Anderson, that process will start as early as Sunday morning when Clowney is expected to arrive in Nashville.
Jadeveon Clowney just informed me he just let the #Saints know he's now chosen the #Titans. New Orleans made a last ditch push through the overnight to improve its deal & lure him away, but "it came down to familiarity over economics." Added "packing now to head there in morning"

The good news is Clowney has experience in the Titans head coach Mike Vrabel’s defense, so he should get up to speed rather quickly.
