Many parts of this Raiders team have a lot to prove. None more so than the cornerback unit which, after the release of Prince Amukamara, is one of the more inexperienced groups in the league. So, not surprising when NFL Network did a ranking of cornerback groups, the Raiders landed near the bottom.

The only cornerback the Raiders are fielding this season who has even a full season of experience is Lamarcus Joyner and he struggled considerably as the team’s starting slot receiver last season.
The starting outside corners are expected to be Trayvon Mullen and Damon Arnette who have a combined ten starts, all by Mullen, because Arnette is a rookie. And Mullen didn’t begin to show potential until the final quarter of last season, giving up 40 catches on 69 targets for 445 yards and 3 touchdowns according to Pro Football Focus.
I wouldn’t consider this a knock on the Raiders’ cornerbacks. They could certainly outplay this ranking. This is just to be expected because of the big question mark surrounding how they will perform.
