The 2020 Tour Championship returns to East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia, to award the FedEx Cup and conclude the 2019-20 PGA Tour season.
The 30-man field begins the week with assigned starting strokes based on their position in the season-long FedEx Cup standings. Leader Dustin Johnson starts at minus-10 with a two-shot lead over BMW Championship winner and Golfweek/Sagarin‘s world No. 1 Jon Rahm.
Below, we’ll look for the best value bets in the Tour Championship odds and lines with tournament matchups, placings and first-round leader picks and best bets. Selections will note whether they’re including the starting/bonus strokes in scoring.

Justin Thomas (-154) vs. Bryson DeChambeau
Thomas was the PGA Tour’s lone three-time winner this season, while DeChambeau matches him with nine top 10s. Thomas, who sits third in the FEC standings and starts the week 7-under par, won the 2017 FedEx Cup but has never won at East Lake.
He has still averaged 2.52 strokes gained on the field per round across 16 career rounds, according to Data Golf. DeChambeau averages 1.84 strokes gained over eight rounds.
Tyrrell Hatton vs. Hideki Matsuyama (-134)
Hatton makes his debut in the Tour Championship this year after claiming his first-career PGA Tour win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March. Matsuyama has played 24 rounds at East Lake with an average of 1.28 SG per round. He also finished six strokes better than Hatton last week as one of just five players to finish under par in the BMW Championship.

2020 Tour Championship: Placing bets (Bonus strokes applied)
Top Asian: Sungjae Im (+135)
This pool is comprised of just Im and Matsuyama this week as the only Asian players to finish in the top 30 of the FEC standings. They’re ranked ninth and 10th, respectively, and both begin the tournament at minus-4. Matsuyama is a heavy favorite at -189, but take the value with the Honda Classic champ and his better all-around season.
Top American: Collin Morikawa (+1400)
Morikawa fell flat last week with a T-20 finish at Olympia Fields Country Club. The PGA Championship winner still sits fifth in the FEC standings at minus-5 to begin the tournament and can certainly pick up five-plus strokes on Johnson and the others.
He makes his debut at East Lake but the 2019-20 season’s lone major winner represents tremendous value.
2020 Tour Championship: First-round leader bet
Justin Thomas (+550 – bonus strokes applied)
Thomas enters the week at 7-under par and needs to pick up four strokes to move ahead of Johnson (-143) and two to surpass Rahm (+275) in order to cash this bet. A win at this event has eluded him thus far in his stellar, young career, but he also came from behind to win the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Classic just four weeks ago.
Billy Horschel (+2500 – bonus strokes not applied)
Horschel ranks second in this year’s Tour Championship field with 3.30 strokes gained per round at East Lake. He just made the cut to qualify for this event at 30th in the season-long standings, but can now rely on his experience here, which includes a win in 2014 when he won the FedEx Cup.
