Last week, Michigan defensive end Aidan Hutchinson shared this his mother, Melissa — who was the sole Wolverines representative at the parents’ protest at Big Ten headquarters in Illinois — was organizing a protest in Ann Arbor during what would have been the season opener for the maize and blue.
“I was talking to my mom and she’s organizing this protest, I believe, which would have been the date of our first game,” “I don’t know where it’s gonna be. Maybe by The Big House. I don’t think this has even been disclosed yet or brought up. She’s planning that. She wants fans to come, players. She wants to see how many parents will come. We want to plan this protest in order to shine some light upon this issue.”
And now, it’s definitely happening.
As announced by the ‘Wolverine Football Parents’ Twitter account, the protest will be taking place this Saturday (Sept. 5) in front of the stadium tunnel entrance at 1 p.m. And it’s not just for parents, as Hutchinson described last week. Players, students and fans are also invited.

Ohio State held a similar protest last weekend, but given that Michigan was one of the institutions that was against football this fall, it’ll be curious to see how many that aren’t players and parents make their way to Stadium and Main this Saturday.
