A look at the Vikings’ 2021 draft picks

Even without next year’s second-round pick, the Vikings are absolutely loaded with 2021 draft picks.

The Vikings made a blockbuster trade on Sunday, trading a 2021 second-round pick and a 2022 fifth-round pick (that could be as high as a third-round pick) to the Jaguars for Yannick Ngakoue.

Even with no second-round pick in 2021, the Vikings are still absolutely loaded for next year’s draft.

Here’s a current look at their nine picks:

1st
3rd
4th
4th via Bears
4th via Bills
5th via Ravens
5th via Steelers
5th
6th
7th

Thanks to the wheeling and dealing from Vikings GM Rick Spielman in last year’s draft, the Vikings are loaded with mid-round picks which should allow them to get back that second-round pick if necessary.

This doesn’t account for the compensatory picks that the Vikings will receive after losing Trae Waynes and Mackensie Alexander in free agency. Per Over The Cap, the Vikings are projected to receive a third- and a sixth-round pick. That ups to team’s picks to 11.

The Vikings manage to stay competitive on the field while also maintaining a grip on improving the team throughout the draft.
