The Kansas City Chiefs worked out a free agent defensive back over the weekend. According to the NFL’s transaction report from August 28, the Chiefs had free agent DB Hasan Sharif in town for a workout.
Sharif played for Division II Alderson Broaddus University in 2019, recording 29 total tackles an interception and two passes defended in 10 games. He went undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft and Kansas City appears to be the first team he’s had the opportunity to try out for.
Sharif previously played for Division II Shippensburg University. He appeared in 22 games, primarily on special teams. Sharif recorded 27 total tackles, three passes defended and a forced fumble in his three seasons with that team.

The 6-foot 195-pound defensive back seems to have experience playing a number of different positions including nickel corner and safety. He appears to be a big hitter and has some standout moments from his career captured on tape.

It’s not uncommon for the Chiefs to have some players in for workouts around this time of the year. They’re looking for players that they could add to their 16-man practice squad. They’re also looking for players to add to their call list for the 2020 season. If an injury happens or an opportunity arises that’s the list of players they look up and call to bring to Kansas City.
Chiefs GM Brett Veach is always on the hunt for a diamond in the rough. He’s also shown that he’s not afraid to give players from smaller schools a chance to come in and compete. We’ll see if anything comes from this workout.
