6 Chiefs players absent from final training camp practice at Arrowhead Stadium

The Chiefs only had six players miss the final training camp practice ahead of the 2020 season.

The Kansas City Chiefs had their final practice of training camp on Saturday in front of 5,000 fans at Arrowhead Stadium. It was a lighter 10-10-10 practice, as it was last Saturday at Arrowhead Stadium.

Here is the full list of players that weren’t at practice on the final day:

  • DE Alex Okafor (Calf)
  • DE Demone Harris (Back)
  • C Daniel Kilgore (N/A)
  • OT Yasir Durant (Head)
  • TE Deon Yelder (Groin)
  • OT Martinas Rankin (PUP)

Returning to practice was starting center Austin Reiter, who missed Friday’s practice with a knee injury. On the flip side, recently signed center Daniel Kilgore wasn’t spotted out at practice.

Demone Harris was absent from practice, he had a back injury that kept him out of practice earlier in training camp. I expect that he’s simply getting a day off as he continues to nurse that injury.

Deon Yelder and Alex Okafor are players to watch here over the next two weeks. Okafor has really struggled to stay healthy in Kansas City due to some ticky tacky injuries. Yelder was the No. 3 tight end in 2019, but if he’s unable to return to the field he could lose his spot.

Martinas Rankin looks slated to start the season on the PUP list. If he does in fact start the season on the PUP list, the earliest he’d be allowed to return to action is during Week 7 of the NFL season.

Chiefs HC Andy Reid said he didn’t have any updates on the injury report following the conclusion of practice.
