Cincinnati Reds at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Wednesday’s Cincinnati Reds at Milwaukee Brewers sports betting odds and lines, with MLB betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Cincinnati Reds (11-17) and Milwaukee Brewers (13-15) continue their four-game series in Cream City Wednesday night. First pitch is at 8:10 p.m. ET at Miller Park. Below, we analyze the Reds-Brewers MLB betting odds and lines, with picks and best bets.

Reds at Brewers: Projected starting pitchers

RHP Sonny Gray vs. RHP Adrian Houser

Gray is 4-1 with a sparkling 2.21 ERA. He has fanned 51 batters in 36 2/3 innings for a would-be career-best 12.5 K/9.

  • Gray was dinged up in an Aug. 9 turn at Miller Park (4 ER on nine base runners in 5 1/3 IP), but he owns a tremendous career line against current Brewer bats (.558 OPS allowed).
  • The Reds righty is backed up by a Cincy bullpen which figures as a top-10 unit against left-handed bats (which are plentiful in the typical Milwaukee lineup). Cincinnati relievers rank second in the league with an 11.9 SO/9 figure.

Houser got out to a rabbit start this season, but he has coughed up 11 ER over his last 18 IP.  Even so, the 27-year-old right-hander owns a 3.72 ERA through five starts.

  • Houser has a limited but shaky history against current Cincinnati bats. He has allowed a .896 OPS in 37 PA.

Moneyline (ML)

In an advanced analytics look at both clubs from 35,000 feet, the Reds (-121) figure be undervalued in general. The Cincy bullpen figures as better than its surface numbers and a crazy-low .207 BABIP in high-leverage situations has hampered the offense. The Sonny Gray start has the market leaning toward the Redlegs here, and There is no value on a Reds (-121) bet.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

Of the four sides listed here, CINCINNATI -1.5 (+125) is the tag with the best potential.

Over/Under (O/U)

A moderate lean to the OVER 8.5 (-110) is advisable. The pro-Reds offense and slightly con-Houser views mix with the hitter-friendly Miller Park factors to create some wiggle room.
