The Colorado Rockies (14-15) and Arizona Diamondbacks (13-17) lock horns at Chase Field Tuesday for a 9:40 p.m. ET first pitch. We analyze the Rockies-Diamondbacks MLB betting odds and picks, with betting advice and tips around the matchup.
Rockies at Diamondbacks: Projected starting pitchers
RHP German Marquez vs. LHP Alex Young
Marquez is 2-4 with a 4.38 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with 35 strikeouts across 37 innings and six starts this season.
- Marquez has dropped three straight starts, but really only his outing Thursday at home against the Houston Astros did he deserve a loss. His previous two outings were quality starts.
- Marquez has done a decent job with his control, allowing just three homers in his 37 innings, and he has walked only 10 batters, too.
Young has managed a 1-1 record, 4.50 ERA, 19 strikeouts and a solid 1.17 WHIP across his two starts and seven relief appearances. He was thrust into the starting rotation with LHP Madison Bumgarner (back) on the 10-day injured list and doubtful to return for this one.
- The southpaw has appeared against the Rockies twice this season, both in relief, winning one of the outings.
- Young has allowed three runs, four hits and one home run with two strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings vs. Colorado this season.

Prediction
Diamondbacks 4, Rockies 3
Moneyline (ML)
The Rockies (-110) won a well-pitched game Monday, 3-2, but you can expect the DIAMONDBACKS (+100) to return the favor here as short dogs. The Rox are without a couple of their big bangers in the outfield, and they still have won just once in their past eight games. They’re also a dismal 2-5 in the previous seven in Arizona, and 4-9 in the past 13 overall against the Snakes.
New to sports betting? A $10 wager on the Diamondbacks nets a profit of $10, while a Rockies win on a $10 play fetches a return of $9.10.
Run line/Against the spread (ATS)
The Diamondbacks (-1.5, +190) are tempting on the alternate run line, but they have dropped six in a row, so it’s hard to have confidence in a team to win by two or more runs when their last victory was Aug. 18.
AVOID.
Over/Under (O/U)
UNDER 9 (-110) is the way to go in Arizona games until further notice. The D-Backs have recorded seven straight Under results, averaging just 1.4 runs per game over the span.
Their pitching staff deserves better, as they have allowed just 4.0 runs per game across the past 10, which is pretty good for the NL West. Until their bats start showing up, keep thumping the Under.
