There’s a chance Delpit could have suffered an Achilles injury, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Former LSU safety Grant Delpit entered the offseason with a high chance of becoming a starter this year, but his outlook may be a bit different now.

Delpit, now with the Cleveland Browns, was carted off the field in Monday’s practice with an injury. According to a report from Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, Delpit was lying on the ground in pain before trainers could move him.

The Browns selected Delpit with the No. 44 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

The safety took home the Jim Thorpe Award last year, given to the top defensive back in college football.

Over three seasons with the Tigers, Delpit posted 199 total tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss, 24 passes defensed and eight interceptions.

Delpit isn’t the only player the Browns have had go down in training camp, with the team placing star running back Nick Chubb in concussion protocol last week.

Linebacker Mack Wilson also suffered a hyperextended knee, and cornerback Kevin Johnson suffered a laceration to his liver in the same week.
