ORLANDO — Former University of Tennessee basketball player will see his rookie season in the NBA continue a little longer.
Williams and the Boston Celtics defeated the Philadelphia 76ers, 110-106, Sunday afternoon to complete a four-game sweep and advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals.
Williams, a first-round draft pick last summer, played sparingly in the series finale against the Sixers.
The power forward and No. 22 overall pick in the 2019 NBA draft, played just six minutes and scored three points in Sunday’s game at HP Field House in the Central Florida bubble.
The Celtics, the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference, will now play the second-seeded Toronto Raptors in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
The Raptors are the defending NBA champions as they swept the No. 7 Brooklyn Nets and closed out their opening-round series with a 150-122 victory at HP Field House Sunday night.
