Last season, the Pittsburgh Steelers got a taste of what life would be like if quarterback Mason Rudolph was running the offense. And it wasn’t great. But Rudolph spoke to the media this week and showed renewed confidence as he prepares for the upcoming season. He also said he knows he will be a starting NFL quarterback.
But is he the future starting quarterback of the Steelers? Ben Roethlisberger looks to be back and in his best health so it looks like he has a few more good seasons left. And it leaves Rudolph’s future uncertain.
As a hypothetical, let’s say Roethlisberger plays out his contract and the Steelers need a new quarterback for the 2023 season. Ironically this would be the same offseason Rudolph would be a free agent.
This could make the 2023 offseason the time where the rubber meets the road for the Steelers front office. Pittsburgh would have to make a serious financial commitment to Rudolph if they think he’s the next in line.
But I’m passing the question off to you. As of right now, if Rudolph the Steelers quarterback of the future? How confident are you in him to lead the team as soon as this season if something happens to Roethlisberger? Let us know in the comments below.
