Kansas City Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill got some good news on his hamstring injury.
There’s been a surge of soft tissue injuries at training camp this year across the NFL. Hill was the latest player to suffer an injury during the Chiefs’ training camp, pulling up lame on a reception during team drills on Thursday. Hill reportedly walked off the field under his own power, spoke with head athletic trainer Rick Burkholder on the sideline, and went back to the locker room for the remainder of practice. It appeared that the injury wasn’t serious and now we have confirmation of that.
According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Hill’s hamstring injury is considered a minor strain and nothing more.
Mentioned on @nflnetwork earlier and just got further word confirming: #Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill’s hamstring injury is a minor strain, sources say. No great concern there. Team could still play it safe, as other clubs are doing when it comes to hamstrings and soft tissue these days.

It’s up in the air in terms of how long Hill will be out of practice. With just under three weeks to go until the season opener against the Houston Texans, the team could choose to play things safe as Garafolo suggests. I anticipate that Hill will return to practice eventually, despite the uptick in injuries around the league. The Chiefs generally don’t hold players out as a precaution if they’re healthy and ready to go.
Hill played in just 12 games during the regular season in 2019 after suffering a sternoclavicular injury in Week 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He’d go on to catch 58 passes for 860 yards and seven touchdowns on the season after returning from that injury.
