Tigers at Indians: Projected starting pitchers

RHP Michael Fulmer vs. RHP Adam Plutko

Fulmer has yet to factor into a decision in three starts this season, turning in a 7.56 ERA with a 2.04 WHIP across 8 1/3 innings with five home runs allowed.

  • Fulmer coughed up three earned runs, five hits and two walks with two homers in just 2 2/3 innings in a no-decision in last Sunday’s outing against the Indians at Comerica Park.
  • Fulmer hasn’t made it past the third inning in any of his three starts this season.

Plutko has posted a 1-1 record with a 3.95 ERA and 1.24 WHIP with eight strikeouts and just one walk allowed across 13 2/3 innings over three starts and four appearances.

  • Plutko allowed three earned runs, six hits and no walks with a strikeout in 2 2/3 innings in a no-decision in Detroit last time out on Sunday opposite Fulmer.
  • Plutko posted a 3-0 record, 3.91 ERA and .226 opponent batting average over 23 innings across four starts vs. Detroit in 2019.

Prediction

Indians 6, Tigers 1

Moneyline (ML)

The Indians (-182) have won 20 consecutive games against the Tigers (+165), including a three-game sweep in Detroit last weekend. The Tribe average just 3.88 runs per game, ranking 27th in the majors, but they piled up 21 runs in the three-game sweep against the Tigers. Normally betting more than -170 is not my thing, but roll with Cleveland until Detroit can snap their funk against the Indians.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on Cleveland will net a $5.49 profit if it wins, while a winning $10 wager on Detroit will return a profit of $16.50.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The INDIANS -1.5 (+100) are a good bet, as not only have they won 20 straight in the series, but they have topped the Tigers (+1.5, -121) by two or more runs in 14 of the previous 15 battles.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 9.5 (-110) is the play, mainly because of the Indians. Cleveland ranks 30th in batting average, at .201, and 29th in OPS at .636. On the mound, the Indians rank first in ERA (2.50), WHIP (0.99) and quality starts (18). It’s a tremendous recipe for plenty of under results.
