When USA TODAY’s Nate Davis last made his 2020 season projection for the Tennessee Titans back in May, he had head coach Mike Vrabel’s squad finishing with a 9-7 record and losing in the first round of the playoffs.
However, in Davis’ latest projection, the Titans not only win 10 games and break their four-year streak of finishing with a 9-7 record, but they also win the AFC South for the first time since 2008.

While the Indianapolis Colts finish with the same record as the Titans in Davis’ projection, he believes Tennessee will finish with a better divisional record to secure their spot atop the AFC South. However, he also has the Colts bouncing the Titans in the Wild card round.
Bringing up the rear of the division will be the Houston Texans (7-9) followed by the Jacksonville Jaguars (3-13), per Davis.
Here’s what he had to say about Tennessee for the upcoming season.
Tennessee Titans (10-6): It’s tempting to pencil them in at 9-7 for a fifth consecutive campaign. But Mike Vrabel’s crew hit its stride down the stretch last year and seems primed to break through for a division crown if its young nucleus continues an upward progression. October should be interesting given the Titans won’t play on the road – but have to grapple with the Steelers, Bills and Texans in Nashville.
If the Titans can pick up where they left off last season on offense and have a healthier, improved defense, there’s no reason why this team shouldn’t at least be the class of the AFC South and earn double-digit wins in 2020.
