The Indianapolis Colts are just a few weeks away from beginning the 2020 season, barring any setbacks. Many analysts have the Colts pegged as either the leaders or the division or at least in the running.
USA TODAY released their latest predictions for the 2020 season all the way through the Super Bowl. They have the Colts tied with the Titans for the best record in the division but coming into the playoffs as a wild-card team.
*Indianapolis Colts (10-6): This is basically predicated on how well 38-year-old Rivers’ reunion with coach Frank Reich and OC Nick Sirianni – the trio was together for three seasons in San Diego – goes. I’m assuming a renaissance from Philly Riv … bolstered by juice brought by fellow newcomers DeForest Buckner and rookie Jonathan Taylor. With only one 2019 playoff team on the first half of their schedule, golden chance for Colts to break quickly from the gate.
The Colts as the sixth seed wind up beating the Titans in the wild-card round while losing to the Ravens in the divisional round of the AFC playoffs.
Here’s how the rest of the division looked in USA TODAY’s predictions:
- Tennesse Titans (10-6)
- Indianapolis Colts (10-6)
- Houston Texans (7-9)
- Jacksonville Jaguars (3-13)
The Colts should be viewed as contenders for the top spot in the AFC South. The Titans will be a tough challenge and the Texans with Deshaun Watson are always a threat, but the Colts have the make up to take the division for the first time since 2014.
It will be interesting to see what happens when the season begins, but the Colts are in a solid spot to make a run in the playoffs.
