The Denver Broncos have a pair of Pro Bowl running backs in Melvin Gordon and Phillip Lindsay. That’s great news for the offense but it could turn into a headache if either RB becomes disgruntled about his playing time.

Gordon said after practice Sunday that both players want to be “the guy” but they also understand it’s a team game. Gordon and Lindsay are competing with each other but they’re teammates first.

“We’re playing unselfishly right now, and we’re both trying to help each other get better,” Gordon said.

Having two quality backs will help Denver keep both players fresh (and hopefully healthy).

“I think [Gordon’s] a great piece to our puzzle on offense,” linebacker Todd Davis said Sunday. “He and Phil are going to be a great combination, possibly the best in the NFL.”

Gordon is expected to serve as the starter this season but Lindsay will get plenty of touches. They should be a dynamic duo for the Broncos.
