Catholics vs. COVID: Notre Dame Closes Campus

Notre Dame has closed campus after an emergence of positive tests on campus in recent days.

The University of Notre Dame has seen a significant uptick in COVID-19 cases this week as students are in their second week of classes for the semester.

Monday saw 418 COVID-19 tests administered with 80 positive tests on campus and quick action was taken by officials a day later as President Rev. John Jenkins announced the closure of campus for two weeks and all classes being done online.

In order to encourage contact tracing the University also won’t punish students for attending off campus parties at this point.

This comes just a day after the University of North Carolina shut down their campus after an outbreak there.

I get young adults not making smart decisions as I’m as guilty as anyone of not thinking wisely far too often during college.

If Notre Dame students have any interest in watching their football team this fall, they’ll start wisening up a bit with how they spend their free time the next few weeks.
