Cam Heyward on zoom talking about his contract: There are no new updates. Nothing of any substance. I want to be a Pittsburgh Steeler. I want to lead this team to a Super Bowl. I love my team, my teammates, the city, the coaches. I love being a Pittsburgh Steeler.

The clock is ticking for Cam Heyward and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Heyward is a top priority player for the Steelers and is heading into the final year of his current contract. No one and I literally mean no one involved in this process from Heyward to the team to the fans wants to see Heyward hit free agency.
Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic as well as a tight salary cap situation has put the breaks on negotiations. Heyward spoke to the media on Monday and indicated there’s been no movement on contract negotiations but he was clear how important it is to him to stay in Pittsburgh.
Nevertheless, the NFL is still a business and Heyward isn’t going to stay unless he’s being paid fairly. And as one of the premier 3-4 defensive linemen in the league, he deserves to be paid accordingly.
Heyward has 39 sacks over the last three seasons with a huge percentage of his snaps coming from a defensive tackle spot.
